Growing Fall Okra in a Hot Climate

How to Grow Okra

It is the early days of September, and our prolific okra plants, planted in the spring, are beginning to slow down. In zone 9b, on the west coast of Florida, south of Tampa Bay, our first frost date is in mid-December. Last year we didn’t have frost. That possibility, in addition, long daylight hours throughout our winter month’s means we have an excellent opportunity to grow vegetables in the fall, including Okra.

We are planting Okra in a raised bed area alongside our herb and butterfly garden. In today’s video, you will see glimpses of our annual “kitchen garden.” You may even see our “scarecrow” Miss “B.” We will be working in this garden during the next few months to prepare it for the upcoming spring and summer gardening season.

The following is for your information. We did not receive any compensation or free products from the companies mentioned in the following list.
